The AfricaConnect2 project is an initiative between the EC, GÉANT and three regional organisations supporting local research and education networking across Africa:
UbuntuNet Alliance: The implementing partner for Eastern and Southern Africa.
ASREN: The regional organisation that partners with GÉANT to deliver the project in North Africa.
WACREN: Coordinates the West and Central African NRENs and will deliver the project in the region in coordination with GÉANT.
ASREN, WACREN and the UbuntuNet Alliance are the regional strategic alliances that deliver AfricaConnect2 in the field. Each organisation encourages and assists regional and trans-regional networking developments. Together they form the backbone of the pan-African research and education networking community.
GÉANT and the UbuntuNet Alliance will work closely together to exploit synergies, foster intra-regional connections and share best practice towards the successful execution of the project.
The participating African NRENs will be supported by European NRENs for training and human capacity building purposes.
AfricaConnect2 will also benefits from e-infrastructure support projects to facilitate cooperation and maximise users' benefits.
