WACREN joining the global R&E networking infrastructure
Amsterdam, 26 July 2018

On the second day of TNC, WACREN CEO Boubakar Barry and GÉANT CEO Erik Huizer signed GÉANT Open and Interconnection Agreements, enabling WACREN to join the global R&E networking infrastructure. Earlier this year, WACREN launched its network which will provide a 10Gbps link from Lagos to London, where it interconnects with the GÉANT network.
This will enhance the access to the European and global R&E networking community. In addition the link will be complimented by the GÉANT Open connectivity service which allows NREN organisations and approved commercial organisations including cloud service providers and commercial research organisations, to exchange connectivity in a highly efficient and flexible manner. This service will open up access to a range of European and International partners to the WACREN community, reducing costs, increasing reach and enabling collaboration on a worldwide scale.
