Proudly featured on the Africa-EU Partnership website
Cambridge, 14 December 2017AfricaConnect2 is proud to be featured in the news feed on the Africa-EU Partnership website which is the first time the project is mentioned at such a high level. The article introduces the project and its partners to the International Development community and the wider public and highlights the importance of the affordable high-speed broadband connectivity for Research and Education. It also invites the readers to watch the project case study video – a success story from Uganda that was developed specifically for the 5th African Union - European Union Summit of Heads of State and Government, which took place on 29-30 November in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
This year the AU - EU Summit was held under the theme "Investing in youth for a sustainable future" and the article on AfricaConnect2 was opportunely published during the summit, as the project latest video is undoubtedly in line with the theme: students of the Kyambogo University in Uganda have been able to create jobs and secure their future with the help of the high-speed R&E connectivity and associated services provided to the university by the local NREN in Uganda, RENU and in collaboration with AfricaConnect2.
The Africa-EU Partnership is the formal channel through which the European Union and the African continent work together. Through areas of common interests and challenges, both continents cooperate on an equal and strategic basis. One of the main channels is the Pan-African Programme which provides funding for AfricaConnect2.
